No, this isn’t a post about the Oscars.
It is the follow-up post to the contest I ran yesterday in the spirit of customer service.
Just so you know — here’s how the drawing happened. I sat down on the floor. My dog was next to me. I had printed out the list of commenters and cut each comment and name into a strip. I folded them up into teenie-weenie pieces. Then I put them into my “Sitka Alaska” baseball cap. I shook them all around.
(I thought about calling the lottery people and seeing if they’d let me use that big plastic hand-cranked swirly thing, but then I realized that I would just be avoiding getting back to the song I’m writing. Otherwise, I’m sure the lottery people would’ve rushed right over.)
So, then I drew the names. And I stood at the podium I had set up, and I announced each name, and my dog and I clapped wildly and whistled.
And the winners are:
Sarah (and you know this was a legitimate drawing because she wrote that she was going to buy one anyway!)
Lala
Tamara
Email me your name and address: christine@christinekane.com. (Send one to firepinkinc@yahoo.com just in case, too. It seems that the email is still messed up from the server crash.) If you don’t hear back from me, it means I’m still having email problems. Leave me a comment tomorrow if you haven’t heard. Some people might be from other continents, and that means the DVD might not work. But that’s okay. You can just stare at it. Or use it as art.
My DVD will be released in about three weeks. So, you’ll be among the ones I send out first!
Thanks to everyone for writing. (and for all the funny comments too!)

Congrats to all the winners! Thanks for the contest, Christine, it’s what finally got me commenting on your blog. It’s been fun to read everyone’s postings.
Will you have a ‘coming out’ party for your new dvd? Let us know what develops……
Sarah is going to be sooooooooooooo excited!!!
Oh, WOW, thank you! I’m completely delighted, and oddly, I had a feeling… how cool. Watch for an email shortly! Oh, and did I say thank you!?!?
Um…. Wow!!! I am so excited! What a wonderful surprise to visit your blog and see my name there. THANK YOU!! I love the visual of you and your dog clapping wildly and whistling.
In all honesty, I didn’t comment to win but is it strange to say that I had a feeling I might? I think there is a reason your DVD is coming my way…
OMIGOD!!! how totally cool! Thank you, Christine! I had a very intense day and you just totally put the cherry on top of it! (no need to examine that bizarre metaphor too closely) But I know exactly what I’m going to do with it…MKA, you inspire me once again!
))))))))))))))))))))
love and thanks and here’s to facing those fears and then you get a PRIZE!!!
Sarah
Hi Christina, You’re VERY in the spirit of the Oscars to congratulate the winners. And I’m wondering how you are connected to the Max Flandorfer paintings website that your name links to…??? Do tell!
Yes, MK, she is. I got her email! (and you’re a good friend.)
Hey Joy, You’re welcome. And thanks for the email too. Many exclamation points made me smile…
Heya Schmoops, Well, I’m glad you had that feeling. You’re in Los Angeles? There’s a place I rarely play. So now, you get to have your very own private concert at home with your dog. Or your friend’s dog. Or something like that.
Hey Sarah! You’re welcome! And I’m glad you took that chance and commented too.
Yay for everyone!
Your Sitka, Alaska hat – that had to be from your visit to one of my best buddies Cindy Bea!
My husband and I’ve seen you a couple of times at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur. We’ve recently moved to the Cleveland area and hope to see you up this way sometime (I’d suggest sometime in Summer!).

What a fun contest! Congrats to all of the winners and Welcome Back Christine! Make sure to make an announcement of when the DVD is released…I’ll be sure to buy it!
Your description of the drawing process made me smile . you do like to have fun.. don’t you.
.
Congratulations to the lucky guys and gals. And Christine, you are so generous..
whew, with my computer expertise, I thought I had screwed up. gald you are back. congrats to the winners. damn the hacker anyway. bb
Hi there Kerri! I’ll be back at Eddie’s in May. And oh, I just love Sitka. And Cindy too!
Thanks Susie. Of COURSE I’ll be announcing the new CD. (It’ll be right after the new website!)
Thodarumm (I keep wanting to ask you about this name. It’s spelled different from the film Thodarum. and it makes me think you are a character in LOTR rushing off to slay orcs. But maybe it’s your real name!) Yes, I like to have fun. I should try it more often!
barbb, maybe we should bless the hackers. damning them hasn’t helped much so far!
Christine,
You asked how I am connected to Maxflandorfer. He is my fiance and my favorite artist. As his Muse-in-Residence, I borrowed his website name. It’s very interesting living with an accomplished artist and watching the creative process flow through them. Max needs a lot of time to saturate himself with the beauty of the environment before he paints. I consider that a vital part of creativity. I’m sure your husband is a great supporter of your work.
How do you choose your work, Christine? There’s so much in life to be inspired or moved by- how do you decide what is included and what is let go? I’m impressed by how you’ve expanded your creative output- a singer, writer, lecturer, blogger, and ballet music inspirer!
Okay, all for now. Thanks for the kind words!
Christina, Max’s work is quite beautiful, and I can tell he’s inspired by the environment and nature. And yes, my husband is incredibly supportive of my work. He’s my first listener every time. (and he can be a good advisor too. He doesn’t just like everything!) As far as my inspiration goes…I guess that can be a blog post unto itself. (I’m preparing a series called “How I Write Songs.”) It’s hard to nail it down to just a comment – but I require lots of stillness and quiet time and space. Hiking a lot helps! (Going to the gym doesn’t really do much for inspiration. But it’s good for my energy and emotional side!)
Christine:
. I neither know the film nor how it is related to the slaying of the orcs. But, here, I give away part of my identity away. In my language (Tamil), thodarum means “to be continued”. I am not sure why I added another m when I first chose the name,
Hi Christine
I really love your blog and I just got one of your CDs – the rain and wild and green thing – it’s really nice. I came across your blog by accident but I’m so glad I did – it’s very inspiring. You mention the new DVD – will you be selling it on amazon ? Or just from your website ? I live in Canada and I don’t know whether you handle overseas orders ?!
thodarumm – yes, there’s a film called “thodarum,” and it’s interesting to know that it means “to be continued!”
hi angela, the dvd will be available on my “new and improved!” shopping cart. my new site will probably be launched next week. and the dvd will be available for ordering then. i do ship to canada, so it won’t be a problem! thanks for asking. glad you like rain & mud!
