Chicken Soup for the Wild Animal Lover’s Soul

Written by Christine Kane

This is an update on yesterday’s post. So far, my reader’s have contributed $392 $722 $817 to Wild for Life. (A percentage of that goes back to PayPal, but it’s still great!)

I still haven’t even told Wild for Life that I wrote yesterday’s blog. (Mostly because they looked at me kind of funny when I even said the word “blog” to them.) I’m sure they’ll be thrilled to know that they have some money coming to them without having to have a bake sale or car wash. (Though, I doubt anyone has bake sales or car washes except high school glee clubs.) That will be a fun part of my day. More update: Susie from Wild for Life left me a message on my cell phone. Without going into it, I will simply say that she was so deeply touched, she could barely speak. Each of you have contributed in SUCH a big way here. Many animals are helped by your generostiy!

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I tried to write as many of you as possible, but a few emails were no longer in service. You might want to update your PayPal accounts.

Remember that nature abhors a vacuum (well, “abhor” might be a bit dramatic, no?), and your generosity will return to you multiplied abundantly. Thanks again!

(If you still want to donate, click on the button below. I’ll keep collecting money and giving it to Wild For Life as long as these posts remain in the blogosphere!)

Tuesday was an extremely difficult day at our house. Nothing in particular just cranky toddler, tired mom. During what felt like the 342nd meltdown of the day I looked out my daughter’s window to take some deep breaths and try to keep at least one of us calm. There was a cardinal perched in our front bushes, a moment of beauty I really needed just then. I’m thankful for people like you and organizations like Wild for Life, who help protect and care for the non-human creatures among us. A small donation doesn’t seem too much to ask. Thank you for sharing the story.

Thank you for yesterday’s entry as well as today’s. It’s so important to know that there are people in the world like those at Wild For Life. Mugsy and Spike were especially appreciative of your post and asked me to make a donation in their names :)

Hey, the new site looks GREAT! Congrats! And what a lovely way to start off
the new site with the last post…always giving back, that’s awesome :-D

Pay it forward. That’s the name of the game! It felt really good giving money to such a worthy cause and that this networked world we live in would reach out and help just because they could. David and I look out at the cardinals that come to our feeder every day. Their brightly colored feathers are a pick-me-up when everything else is so bleak in these pre-spring days. They also remind me of my mom who loved her birds too. So thanks for trying to save one. It’s nice to know there are people in the world like you….and all your readers!!

Thank you for such a beautiful post on Wildlife I had tears in my eyes as I was reading. My first experience of a red cardinal
was at your retreat and I was enchanted by its vivid colour and beauty as I sat by the boathouse. I also love your post on MK’s site which reminds me of my of when I’m driving. Here’s to the bugs ‘getting it’ some day!

P.s. I’ve just found out that my laptop will play your DVD so don’t need to worry about regions – Hurrah!!! I’ve just ordered!!! (sorry about weird layout of last message… I had Pam’s problem of not being able to read what I’d written :-) )
