Girls Being Healthy

April 26th, 2007 by Christine Kane

We interrupt Christine’s usual blog posts for an announcement…

Only a few more spaces are available at the Great Big Dreams Retreat in June.

The dates of the retreat? June 15 - 17.

The location? Perfect. Bend of Ivy Lodge - tucked away on 63 acres in Weaverville.

The group? Small.

I’m keeping the numbers low on this one because of requests from several participants that we go deeper and have more reflection time and connection time. And June is so gorgeous here that we have more evening outdoor time - and that’s just easier with a small group!

The food? Amazing.

Mostly it’s organic vegetables and salads and homemade breads. Cynde (our personal chef) grows all her own food. And in June, you can’t imagine what her creations are like! (The strawberry pie alone is unlike anything you’ve ever had!)

The reasons to come? Many.

If you want to gift yourself with some time to reflect or gain clarity - or if you want to create or renew intent for yourself, or if you’re going through transition - or if you just need some time to be peaceful and quiet and relax and hang out with some great women — then this is your retreat.

The women? Cool.

At the last retreat, one of the participants had just met Cynde - our chef - and had just had a massage with Grace, and she said to me, “You know the coolest women!” And it’s true. I do. (I reminded this person that she is one of those women.) And that’s who comes to the retreats. The age varies. The oldest has been 70-something. The youngest has been 18. But at every retreat, there’s not really age. There’s just really cool women. And you can be as connected as you want to be, or as isolated as you want to be. Some people come solely to relax and be silent in the mountains. And that’s fine too.

The scholarship? One.

At every retreat, I offer one scholarship. I call it the “Loving Hands” scholarship. This scholarship was created by one of my blog readers, and has been added to by the women who have already come to the retreats. Please email me at christine@christinekane.com if you are interested. But please write soon!

    Hi Christine,
Your retreats are super wonderful and I can’t recommend them enough !!! I just ran into someone at the Great Smoky Wildflower Pilgrimage who lived here several years ago and is thinking of returning. I asked her if she knew you and she said, “I LOVE CHRISTINE KANE!!” and when she found out about your retreats she went wild. I hope you still have openings for this June. It is a perfect fit for where she is in her life and with your retreat guidance/leadership, I am sure she will gain the confidence to make her leap and know that the net will appear! Also at the Pilgrimage, I met with my actress friend, Kaiulani Lee, who has written and performed (for years now) a play called “Sense of Wonder” about Rachel Carson. She is performing it for Congress on May 8!! She was intrigued by your work and wants to hear your music so I offered to send her some. Is it best for you to have me order it through your site or to just copy and send from mine and then send you payment separately?
All the good that you do continues to ripple out. Sure, hope you are out hiking today. Considering the cold snap that we had, there are still a good number of glorious ephemerals out in bloom!!!
    Happy Day,
    Kay

Hi Kay, Thanks for the nice note here. We have about one more space left in the retreat! So, have her contact me soon. And feel free to email me your address (though it’s probably in the retreat files somewhere) and I’ll send you a copy of the CD. Yes, it’s an amazing day here in Asheville!
