Tips for Indie Musicians (and Artists of All Types)

August 13th, 2007 by Christine Kane

Bob Baker is a music-marketing guru who specializes in helping indie musicians and songwriters build prosperous and creative careers. In the mid-90’s, he predicted that the internet was going to drastically change the music business. He began encouraging musicians and songwriters to take their careers into their own hands and stop waiting for the record labels to rescue them. Since then, he has helped countless bands and artists build prosperous careers, and his blog and eBooks are among the most popular out there.

I’m honored that Bob has invited me to be the speaker at a teleclass entitled, The Empowered Artist: How to Build a Music Career On Your Own Terms.” This is a FREE TELECLASS. It happens Monday, August 20 at 9pm EST. You can read more details at Bob Baker’s blog. I’m inviting the readers of my blog (lots of you are artists and creatives) because some of the discussion points will be relevant to all kinds of arts careers.

The call will last an hour or so and have segments for caller questions and interaction. Here are the call-in details for the free teleclass:

Starting time: 9 PM Eastern (6 PM Pacific, 8 PM Central) Monday, August 20

Dial-in number: 1-218-339-7800 (a Minnesota number)

Access code: (enter this number when prompted) 37251

There’s no cost to access the call. Only your regular long distance charges will apply. The number of participants is limited, so call in near the top of the hour to make sure you get in.

    Christine,

Is there a chance that the class will be available as a podcast later? I would love to have a friend (young, indie musician and artist) participate, but he’s not only working 2 jobs, his computer is dead. Can’t even send him an email. (sigh)…
