How to Keep Your Business Thriving in the Face of Tragedy

Life happens. But is your business set up in such a way that you could leave if something happened?

Today’s topic is about just that””how do you LEAD your business when tragedy strikes?

Charlotte writes in with a great question,

Have you ever been in a situation where something in your personal life influences how you show up in your business. Let’s say someone dear passed away, an accident/injury of a family member or a divorce. How did/do you deal with this?”

Fabulous question, and the reason this is such a big deal is because when you’re running a business, you’re serving people. When you’re serving people, you’re leading people.

The first thing to really consider is”¦

HOW is your business set up now? COULD you leave fast if something happened?

If your business is set up in such a way that things could run smoothly and you could leave””still being of service and leading the team when you need be. That’s the ideal.

The thing about this though, is that it really is a personal choice. Sometimes you may not be able to walk away depending on what’s going on, or you know you can still be of service to your clients despite being a little vulnerable.

Ask yourself”¦

how am I going to handle this with my IDEAL CLIENTS?

One of the best ways to go about doing this is to COMMUNICATE CLEARLY what is happening to your clients. Let them know what’s happening.

Convey to them you are still standing in your level of service, HOWEVER, it may take a little longer than usual to respond to things, or schedules may need to be adjusted.

I’ve found that clients are very loving”¦and very giving when life transition or tragic events happen. Your IDEAL client wants you to succeed as much as they want to succeed.

Now, when it comes to a break-up or divorce, that may take a bit longer for you to process.

When you SHOW UP in your BUSINESS, how much does your personal life come along with you?

For so many of us, it’s SO easy to put yourself away when you step into a room with a client.

We set ourselves aside.

When we step into service, it becomes all about your heart just giving.

HOW do you want to SHOW UP and SERVE PEOPLE?

Your personal challenges CAN be moved to the side when you are serving your clients.

Again, this is a personal question, but it’s a great question””one worth keeping in mind and talking to your team about SHOULD anything ever happen.

So, I’m curious to hear from all of you about this in the comments below””HOW has your business responded in the face of tragedy? How have your clients responded? Let’s talk.
