Workshops

This is a list of the workshops that Christine presents:

Getting a Job is Boring. Get a Life Instead. (A Workshop for College Students.)

By the time a student has made it through college, she has been in the presence of thousands of adults who don’t like their jobs. She has also probably been told over and over again that she has “so much potential” for her future. The resulting anxiety level of the average college senior can be paralyzing. This workshop is designed to alleviate some of that anxiety, to move students past the idea of “potential,” and into the awareness of their own power to create a future about which they are excited. Christine draws on her own experiences of becoming a songwriter and performer, of starting her own business to manage her growing career, and of working through fear, and letting go of the myth of “security” that keeps people stuck in unfulfilling jobs. Christine is authentic, funny and opens up so that students can recognize themselves in what she says to them. Students will leave the class with an awareness of their own ability to design their careers, as well as with tools to inspire them to action.

The Path of a Song

Even though the process of writing of a song is almost never linear, the language we use to describe this process is. In this class Christine walks students through the work and play of writing a song (or several songs at once) keeping in mind that this path is often “messy and squiggle-y and personal and strange.” She discusses inspiration, motivation, doubt, attention, getting stuck, editing, grace, and even gratitude. Because it is so easy to complete a class like this and forget to apply the principles, Christine provides simple and practical tools for students to take home and work with so that they can continue to grow as writers and craft their authentic voices.

Great Big Dreams

This is an abbreviated workshop version of Christine’s three-day retreats for women. Students are introduced to the ideas of intent, inspiration, motivation, action, and gratitude, as well as moving through doubt, fear and other obstacles that we each face on the paths of our dreams. Both practical and spiritual, the tools provided are invaluable to helping participants begin living their Great Big Dreams.

Practical Creativity

This course is a basic class for the average person who has never explored the idea of living a more artful and creative life. Christine discusses the basic principles of creativity, and students participate in various activities to gain an understanding of their own untapped talents and abilities. Christine then applies these ideas to help students recognize how they can use creativity to design more artful and abundant lives in their work and home. Christine teaches this class six times a year for the Leadership Assessment Program of the Federal Government.
