The One Thing You Must Do to Succeed at Just About Anything - Christine Kane

Shift your thinking and begin using intention to transform your business and life.

Intention is where it all begins.

One of the first things I do every day””after I hug my dogs””is set an intention.

I decide who I want to be, what I want to create, and how I want to feel in situations I’m in- even, and maybe especially, the unexpected ones.

Yes, traditional business people (I call them “Muggles,”) would probably label this practice “unconventional,” and write it off as “woo,” but then I’m talking about something they wouldn’t understand.

And if those traditional business people really knew the power they could harness from merely getting clear and setting deliberate intentions, they’d change their minds and all their daunting rules!

(I’ll be diving deep into a different set of rules in my live Defying Gravity webinar this Thursday.)

I believe so strongly in setting intentions that I set them before calls with clients, meetings with my team, speaking gigs and, yes, even before I write a blog post.

Here’s how it works for me: I take a few calming breaths and ask myself three important questions:

Who do I want to be in this situation?

How do I want to feel?

What is the ideal outcome that would feel amazing?

“Geez, for everything, Christine?” you may question.

Pretty much.

Most people mistakenly save setting intentions for the biggies: Big Picture dreams or maybe finding their Life’s Purpose.

But, today, I’m inviting you to put this into action yourself. Just a little tiny bit at a time.

Do you think you can shift your thinking and begin using intention in small, everyday situations?

Try this.

Try setting an intention when you make your next sales call or attend that next (dreaded) networking event. Or when you sit down to dinner with your kids. Seriously, nothing’s too mundane or too trivial.  Not if you want to create the results you want.

The power of intention will help you succeed at just about anything

I learned about the power of intention after I decided to define success for myself, rather than rely on outside opinions to dictate what success meant to me.

Back when I was just starting my music career, my focus was splattered and my energy was constantly depleted because I was too busy reacting to what other people said or thought, rather than taking time to ask myself what type of business I wanted to create.

When I finally realized the power of MY OWN thoughts and I got clear for myself on what I wanted, that’s when things began to change for me.

I stopped living reactively. Made intention a daily practice, and that’s when things began to transform in ways I could have never imagined!

So, I’ve seen this over and over again with my clients. When you use the power of intention in your business, you’ll start:

  • Meeting the right people at just the right time (amazing how this happens)
  • Finding solutions to challenges that have kept you stuck
  • Noticing how things seem to fall into place, effortlessly (And when I say effortlessly, I don’t mean by NOT working!)
  • Feeling like a focused, clear and empowered business owner

And it’ll all seem like magic.

Setting an intention is like sending a cosmic signal out to the universe and to your wisest, deepest self that says, “Hey, I’m finally ready to take charge of myself and my business!”

But – it’s more than just setting an intention. This isn’t going to work if you set an “intention” then sit down on your couch and eat bon-bons – OR if you listen to those “Muggle” rules and think you just need to “work harder“… “try harder“…

What happens is much more powerful, and there are actual steps… soul-centered steps through which I’ve taken my clients, to reach an entirely new level of success.

We’re creating a new movement in business. It’s a new class of entrepreneurs.

The Law of Activating Intention is just one my Seven New Laws of Gravity. The new class of entrepreneurs consists of the people who insist on operating and growing their business with true spirit, soul, congruence and integrity.  (And they happen to make lots of money while doing it!)

So, are you ready to Defy Gravity in your business?

Here’s what to do: Make sure you’ve watched my 3 Defying Gravity trainings and clear your calendar to join me for my live interactive webinar on Thursday, September 25th at 8pm Eastern (5pm Pacific, 6pm Mountain, 7pm Central).   Click here to grab your space!

Thank you for the this article and video. You provide us lot of food for thought – very healthy and nourishing food! I would really appreciate if you could please give some example of answers of ‘becoming’ ‘feeling’ and ‘outcomes’ are we talking about just to get an idea of the level (high or detailed level) answers we must be capturing.

Intentions work for me much like deadlines…only without the stress!
And deadlines certainly do wonders for my efficiency!
I use intentions in small ways “This afternoon I’m going to finish this article”, “I want to talk to my team about a, b and c”, “I will start this discussion by listening”.
These examples show what is missing though: the aim is there, but the projection of who do I want to be, how do I want to feel, is not. I’ll start adding these!

A really amazing post Christine . You have explained to me a very complex thing in very simple words . I have read a lot of books on law of attraction but I was not sure of what it means to set up your intention . Thanks to you now I know . Setting up one’s intention means to focus one’s energy and thoughts on what one really wants . And one should set an intention for small things as well ; as these small things are stepping stone to big things in life .

I talk to my clients about this all the time, but I don’t think I’m teaching it as clearly as I should. Thanks for the reminder….
“Who do I want to be?
How do I want to feel?
And what is the most amazing outcome that I want to come from this situation?”

    Be. Feel. Outcome.

    I need to remember that….

Thanks, Christine – and good luck tomorrow night! :))
