Today is a momentous day for lots of people in the New Thought world. At least according to the emails I received. Here’s the gist of it:

A Cosmic Trigger Event will occur on the 17th of October 2006. An ultraviolet (UV) pulse beam radiating from higher dimensions in universe-2 will cross paths with the Earth on this day. Earth will remain approximately within this UV beam for 17 hours.

Now, when you think about an all-day “Cosmic Trigger Event,” what might come to mind is, say, an old couple driving a Cadillac Bonneville at approximately 28 miles per hour in front of you ALL DAY LONG. (At least that’s what I thought.)

But this trigger event is a different kind of trigger. This is one that has a lot of people on guard with their thoughts. Read on from one of my emails.

The effect is every thought and emotion will be amplified intensely one million-fold. Yes, we will repeat, all will be amplified one million times and more. Every thought, every emotion, every intent, every will, no matter if it is good, bad, ill, positive, negative, will be amplified one million times in strength. What does this mean? Since all matter manifest is due to your thoughts, this beam will accelerate these thoughts and solidify them at an accelerated rate making them manifest a million times faster than they normally would.

So, when I woke up today, I remembered the giant UV ray. At first I asked my husband if we would need extra sunscreen (SPF 1,000,000?).

Then I realized that I was in kind of a low mood. I had had an intense performance over the weekend, and I was pretty drained. I was tempted to charge into my day pell-mell and not think twice. But then, the GIANT UV BEAM came to my mind. (A fellow blogger (and now friend) Heather Fougnier wrote to me from a conference in Malibu where she is teaching. She said that Louise Hay is in attendance and that today would be a day of major meditation and intention.)

So, instead of allowing my mood to dictate my day, I meditated and did my index cards and began the day in a better place. I even listened to Louise Hay while I was working out. (You know, just in case, right?)

But then I began thinking about this. Why should this day be different from any other day? (I created my own kind of New-Age seder out of the whole thing.) If we have no earthly idea whether or not there’s really a giant UV beam magnifying our intents a million-fold, why not pretend that this is happening every day?

You’ve probably heard the expression “You can’t afford the luxury of a negative thought.” (Today, that would really be the case.) I do believe the idea that collapsing into negativity is kind of a luxury, and not a good luxury. Do I live my every moment by it? Not always. I have occasional negativity binges the same way I used to chow down on Oreos and pizza (and Cracker Jack and ice cream and Cheetoes).

But the moment I recognize that I’m doing it and become clear that negativity is kind of a luxury and a default, I find my way back somehow. Then I look around and say, “Oo. Now, that couldn’t have been good for anyone!”

And that’s what the giant UV beam does for me today. I look around and think, “Hey. Who knows? Why don’t I shift out of this worry and fear? Today, I’m a happy camper and wild abundance and trees and clean water and happy positive people and good things are right here.” (I’m wondering if the people involved in Steve Pavlina’s Million Dollar Experiment are now attracting a million Million dollars?)

UV Beams Everyday!

So why not play that game every day? Why not send yourself an email every morning with that same idea? If the Law of Attraction is true, then it matters just as much. Make it High Stakes Positive Thinking. Not so that you’ll run around in a place of fear. But so that you’ll live in a place of power. You’ll say, “Whoa! Do I really want that thought amplified a million times in my life? No way!” And you’ll change it. You’ll be more aware.

Everyday Rituals

Before I perform, I do a ritual in my dressing room. I get silent. I call on the divine committee. (I call it a committee because a friend of mine who had been in NA laughed for about an hour when I told him all the beings I called forth when I pray. He said, “Hello? Christine! I think you’ve got your bases covered. You don’t need a whole committee!” I told him I didn’t want any of the deities to feel left out.) I ask for my highest self to be the performer that night. I find my center. I breathe. And I simply know that the night is not about me. It’s about a higher place than that. Then I walk out and play. It’s not a long process. But it’s a powerful one.

So, at one time I thought, Why don’t I do that everyday? Why is it just the stage that should call forth that level of clarity from me? Why not ask the Little Me to move to the side every morning?

So, now when I do this ritual, I operate from such a better space. I always notice the difference. Always. Try it. Begin your day setting that level of intent.

Remember You’re Not a Victim

Be it a Giant UV Beam or a theatre filled with people, I am wary of anything that makes you think that some giant outside thing will “happen to you.” You really do have the reigns in every situation, even if it’s simply the translation of the event. Mercury Retrograde, for instance, has never been an issue for me. (I bought my last house during Mercury Retrograde, and nothing went wrong. I loved my house.) In the case of the giant UV Ray, however, you do have a choice in that you are the thinker of your thoughts all day long.

So, for this October 17th Cosmic Trigger Event, I say, let’s make the most of it. Use it. Amplify your thoughts a million-fold everyday. Begin your day knowing that you have that kind of power.

HI Student, Yes, I agree with you about both of those things. I do think at some point it doesn’t matter what you do next as long as you take an action in some direction. We get so dramatic about wanting it to be the “right” thing. But I’m pretty clear that if I had decided to be a salon owner, I could’ve done that (and learned the same lessons), as long as I committed. The other thing – not thinking we can positively affect our situation – is taken care of once you begin to act. Action (coupled with watching your thought patterns) is paramount.

I love that idea of having your thoughts magnified many, many times their normal power. I think two simple things get in our way often: not knowing what to do next and thinking we can’t positively affect our situation.

You’re right, positive thinking is an everyday requirement! Now, how to convince our habit centers to adopt that mantra…

Hi Michelle! Yes, I’ll email you…

Yes, Kirsten…My thought is that even if you don’t believe the whole Law of Attraction thing, then at least you can live a non-miserable life!

Hi Barb and Susie (my little Lady Macbeths)… okay, one thought I have on this subject is the idea of “what you focus on persists.” Make sure you don’t focus TOO long on the “bad thought.” Maybe just notice it and guide yourself to a different one! Barb, I’m glad this article helped you. That’s inspiring to me!

not to belabor the point but I have to tell all that today was a great day. It was cloudy so any remaining UV rays were blocked by the clouds. I don”t know where to get SPF 1,000,000. thanks again. and thanks susie. barb

Cool, I never heard about the Cosmic Trigger Event. Too bad I missed it yesterday, but I still had a great day! And ever since reading “The Biology of Belief” and “The Power of Water” I’ve paid a lot more attention to my thoughts…everyday. Thanks for the cool info. And Barb, I’ll start chanting “Out, out bad thought” for you too…many positive thoughts and prayers.

christine, thanks so much for this post. I really need to hear this today. I had gotten a call from the mammogram people that they needed more films. Well this is not what one wants to hear. So i alternated between “oh my god” to “out,Out bad thoughts” ( crummy slant rhyme but it worked) When the results came back showing that nothing was wrong, I held it together until the car and then sat there crying. I spent the rest of the day feeling way down. I carried it over to today adn let the negativity pull me way down. Being as “out, out bad thought” is new I forgot it. I finally got myself up and went to the barn, did some work and then felt much better. Your post has told me exactly what I did, I let the negative get me and it kept me down because I let it. Now, “out, out bad thought” will become my mantra and your post my daily thought. it will also motivate me to get out of my hole that I manage to fall into more frequently than i want.. A big thank you and hug. barb

I like the idea of every day being a high stakes positive thinking day! It does take effot to stay persistently positive, but I think the results are absolutely worth it!
    Stay positive,
    Kirsten

Hi Christine. I totally spaced on Heather heading out to Malibu so soon. I’ve written her an email, but I was wondering if you happened to have her cell phone number?? I really want to see her while she’s out here in the LA area. Boy – I thought she was coming NEXT week! If you have it, and feel comfortable giving it to me, please do me a huge favor and send it to my email address??

Otherwise, at least it sounds like she’s receiving and sending emails, right??

    Thanks!
    Michelle Hope
