What is a vision board and do I need one?

Create a Vision Board for Success

what is a vision board

People who know me (heck, even people who don’t!) know that I talk about the transformative power of vision boards a lot.

Seriously, a lot!

(But, hey, a vision board changed my life, so I’m kind of a fan!)

So a question I hear a lot is, “Hey Christine? What IS a vision board exactly?”

And hey, it’s a good question! If you’ve never made one before, you might be just as skeptical as I was at first.

Grab a cup of coffee and hang tight. I’ve got answers for you”¦

In the most literal sense, a vision board is a collection of images and notes attached to a board and placed somewhere that you can see it every day.

Sounds simple enough, right?

But if you came here because you’re asking “What is a vision board?” then you probably want to know something a little deeper than all that.

A vision board, at it’s core, is a visual representation of all the things that you want to do, be, and have in your life.

It’s a daily reminder of those things. Something you can look at every single day to remind you of your deepest desires.

And it’s powerful.

Because the thing is, ATTENTION is powerful, and where your attention goes, your energy flows. And don’t you want your attention focused on the things that you want to attract in your life?

So what is a vision board?

It’s you.

Your dreams.

Your best self.

Just waiting to be.

What is a Vision Board and Why Should I Make One?

So, okay. I’ve answered the technical question of “What is a vision board,” but I’m sure you’ve still got questions.

(People always do – that’s why I created my free ebook, The Complete Guide to Vision Boards, to share with people who want to know more!)

The next question I usually hear is “So, why should I make one? What is a vision board going to help me do?”

Well, honestly, it’s good for a lot of things.

And there are a lot of reasons you might want to make a vision board.

Maybe you’re in transition (between job or relationships, or anything really!).

Maybe you’re feeling stagnant.

Maybe you’re pretty happy, but you know deep down that there’s more out there for you.

These are all perfectly good reasons to make a vision board.

Heck, there’s not really a bad reason to make one!

Essentially, a vision board is going help you answer three questions:

1.)   If money, people’s opinions and judgments, and fear were not factors, what would you do, be, and have?

2.)   What beliefs or things would you have to let go of to create this in your life?

3.)   What would you have to believe in order to be, do, and have these things?

(I know, they’re big questions!)

But if you’re ready to answer them (and to do, be, and have all those things that you really want), this is exactly what a vision board will help you to discover!

What Is A Vision Board -  Why Do I Need One?

I can hear you over there now”¦

“Okay, that’s all good, but what is a vision board going to do for me that just answering those questions in my head wouldn’t do? What makes a vision board so special anyway?”

Great questions. And I asked them all, back before I ever made my first vision board.

(Seriously, I was a card-carrying member of the eye-rolling cynics club!)

So, what IS so special about a vision board? Why do you need one?

Well, the process of sitting down to make a vision board forces you to do several things.

As you work through the process (which you can learn all about with my free Complete Guide to Vision Boards ebook), you’ll realize that we focus on a lot more than just the nuts and bolts of finding images and gluing them to a poster board for your office wall.

Remember, “˜tools for directing your attention and intention’ is the key answer to that whole “What is a vision board, REALLY?” question.

So we focus on getting clear, aligning with your deepest self and its TRUE desires, and envisioning the life you truly want.

All of this is crucial as you begin attracting the life you want to you, whether that’s in regards to health, business, spirituality, relationships, or something else all together.

What Is A Vision Board and How Do I Make One?

So by now, you’re getting excited about all this.

(How can you NOT be excited about a process that helps you create the life you REALLY want, amiright?)

And you want to know how to make your own vision board.

Well, I’ll walk you through the hands-on part of the process, including my recommendations for creating a beautiful ritual as you create your board, in that free ebook I mentioned, The Complete Guide to Vision Boards (you can download it here).

You’ll need some glue, a wide variety of magazines, some paste, and some poster board.

But you’ll need more than that.

Because what is a vision board OTHER than glue, poster board, magazines, and pretty pictures?

It’s your chance to open yourself to your true desires. Your chance to sit with yourself and discover what you really want most. Maybe that’s six pack abs and Hawaiian vacations, but maybe that’s a beautiful home where you feel at peace and more free time to spend with your kids.

Whatever you discover, it’s there for you.

What is a vision board?

It’s the path to the you that you REALLY want to be.
